2010 en Galería PRIMA

Galería PRIMA presents its series of solo exhibits in which well-established artists collaborate with young artists on the preparation of their first exhibit and in the sale of their works. The project has the joint objective of facilitating the career of the young artist and their entry in to the world of art and providing a means of sustaining, through the funds raised, ProyectArte’s own Scholarship and Graduate Programs, aimed at young students between the ages of 15 and 25.

In this latest exhibit Jorge Gonzalez Perrín worked with Florencia Buezas to combine at once the course roots of Saladillo with nostalgic family portraits. According to the curator: “The latest works of Florencia Buezas are characterised by one of her most notable traits – the use of a vibrant palette of colours. The works were first conceived during ProyectArte’s Scholarship Program in which every year young students come together to study and work with recognised artists. This young artist has already held solo exhibits in both the Galería Pasaje 17 in Buenos Aires and in various institutions dedicated to the promotion of emerging young artists, such as Rumble Art, Art Fair in California, USA. In these exhibits she has shown that those conditions which were formerly intuitive have now become a reality. Florencia’s work is about her roots, her birth place of Saladillo. It tells of the fragile world which she has chosen as the subject of her scrutiny. Always convincing, direct, engaged. Drawing on other inspirations, like Moebius´ strip, we can identify in Florencia’s works two converging lines that occasionally touch each other; sometimes through the use of colour at others through the choice of material or the general theme. On the one hand we have the three-dimensional works, known as “trunks”, impeccably executed, truly three-dimensional paintings. On the other hand, there are her two-dimensional works; strongly linked to the perspective of many great contemporary artists, most notably Sigmar Polke. The use of photos as a basis for the inspiration of her pieces, are like the starting point of an unpredictable conversation, creating an element of surprise in her works, like an unsuspected ending. Though perhaps necessary, this is what truly differentiates her from other artists who so often end up falling in to the trap of their own conventionality. Her tricks combine the real with the make-believe, the detached with the pictorial, thus creating a web of multiple meanings, so rich in interpretation that it allows us to open ourselves up to new realities, or perhaps even to another way of viewing reality. These works, devoid of any embellishment , make us think about the true essence of pictorial processes, they force us to question what is truly the required in the moment of creation, to think about what the question is rather than simply to give a response. We are witnessing the birth of an artist, a feat rare in itself; we must not miss out on such an opportunity.”

As well as the curator, Juan Balza, Paloma Márquez, Gonzalo Maciel, Mercedes Peñalva, David Katzowicz, Damián Stendelis, Mariano García, Clara Desimone – also graduates of ProyectArte’s scholarship program, will also be supporting Florencia in this important occasion. Current volunteers Alamara Bettum and Bianca Bamballi will also be participating in the event with partners and friends. Other artists and curators with an interest in participating in various activities run by the institution during 2010 will also be attending the event: Lux Lidner has shown an interest in the Paloma Marquez’ exhibition in June, CarlosAgued and Emiliano Iglesias Albores have expressed an interest in exhibiting their works in the Galería PRIMA. We will also be expecting the artist Pablo Lozano, who is interedted in participating in the Visiting Artists program and Moira Aguirrezabal, from Jardín Oculto and Alberto Sassani from Galería Perro Verde.
